Chairperson - Steve Nixon
Steve has been active on our Board for over 6 years - including 3 in this executive position - and a volunteer for our membership committee. He is a lifelong resident of the area, and still actively farms here with his wife and 4 children. On top of all this, he's the owner and co-founder of the Black Creek Farm & Feed store, which has been a valuable business partner and sponsor to BCCA programs over the years. Somehow he still
manages to find time to participate in many of Jerry's rigorous fitness classes!
Vice Chairperson (& Facilities Director) - Jerry Griffin
Jerry has served 4 busy years on the Board; he jumped in head first in 2010 with helping to implement the Access Pass system so members could use the Fitness Room outside of office hours, a feature which has been enormously popular. With his background as a gym franchise owner and in construction and development, he covers all the bases in terms of keeping our fitness room and facilities in smooth working order, and he's also a valuable member of our marketing committee. Many people also know him through his hugely popular SWEAT and bootcamp classes, which he teaches regularly at the centre.
Secretary - Margaret Sorken
Born and raised all around the Lower Mainland, Margaret and her family moved to Black Creek 8 years ago and has always been a dedicated volunteer and participant at the Black Creek Community Centre. Fortunately for us, she decided to take it a step further and join the Board last year, taking on the role of Secretary within the first six months! She's risen to the task...and added even more, as she is now a regular cook for our senior's program and some of our special events. Margaret's locally-sourced cooking is a treat indeed, with much of the ingredients coming out of her own amazing garden!
Treasurer - Jennifer Baker
